Well, I recreated it to fit a customer's desire for a girl's headband and I am quite pleased it turned out fantastically. I think I should get those clusters of flowers out of the basket and make some more headbands or brooches. At least they'll make space for some more.
I started a combined sale of my patterns. There are five for the time being expecting this to grow soon. I have been working on a series of patterns I am quite excited about, but it takes more time than planned.
For those interested you can buy the patterns here.
Yesterday was a beautiful day! A gift for the soul. Friends gathered for a get-together, a lovely scene in a hidden garden, playful children, some baked chestnuts with a glass of wine.
And there was a raisin pie. An incredible experience for our palates.
Just when I thought that the moustache craze rocking the world has died down, after a sudden drop-down it raged once more in our household. Honestly, I cannot keep up with Eva's top list fashion accessories which changes with the speed of light and that she "must have 'em or she'll die, because everyone else has them" - which on another note is quite disturbing for me because even as a teenager I didn't strive to have "everything others had or did" and I guess I was a 'disappointment' to my mother because she could never say to me "if that and that jumped off a cliff..." Sorry Mom! OK - got carried away a bit!
So, we couldn't escape the moustache craze and I wasn't going to pay a fortune for a moustache necklace and I promised to make her. Because I haven't got any black felt in my stash, which would have been sooo much easier to make it with, I crocheted one. I am not very pleased with the form it gained and may work out more on the pattern. But, she is happy and once more calmness prevails in our household. At least, until the next whim!
Hello everyone! This week had a roller-coaster like start and what do you know, it's Wednesday already. The weather in these parts have been mild and beautiful! A true Indian summer. So we spent the weekend taking long walks in the countryside. Although it's mid-October, due to the warm weather the trees are still green with a hint of yellow speckles here and there. And I can't believe we are still short-sleeved clothed. In terms of crafting, taking a break from the baby blanket I made some flower brooches. Crocheting flowers is amazingly therapeutic for me and takes the burden of modern life off of my mind. This brooch is made by combining another of my favourite combinations: grey and purple. Besides flowers, I added some beads, ribbons and vines.
I have been crocheting this blanket for quite a while now, working on it whenever I spare an hour or two, and it is a present for a newborn baby boy. The Ripple Pattern {or the Chevron pattern if you want to sound 'fancy'} is easy in spite of its complicated looks and for this one I decided to use a palette of blues and greys. On a whim I decided to make the center part light blue, although my first idea was to make it in all 4 colors. I think it'll be less chaotic for a little baby and the colorful part makes for a great border. I still don't know what I am going to do with the edging, but I guess I'll figure it out when the time comes.
Hello everyone! Today is our 12th Anniversary! This one although not being a jubilee we decided to treat ourselves and the kids with a Mediterranean cruise. We already made arrangements and it will all happen in November.
Whenever we travel abroad, I scour the Internet for must-see places, museums, monuments and other important sites/sights. This will be no exception. However, I would love if you suggest places for us to visit since we are time limited plus with children so we have to wisely select where to go and what to see.
We will visit Rome, Genoa, Messina (Italy), Barcelona (Spain), Tunis (Tunisia), Valleta (Malta). Any suggestion you have would be highly appreciated. Thank you!
I love miniatures of all kinds especially man -made. Tiny houses, furniture or figurines instantly seduce me. The artist's patience and craftsmanship employed to create them always mesmerizes me.
Once in a while I like to make some myself. Out of yarn.Hence the miniature necklace.I had this idea of a mini necklace haunting me for months and I am glad I eventually made it. It is smaller than a thumb and decorated with some lovely flowers and leaves.
I had a crazy idea of calling it the Thumbelina necklace (Andersen being one of my favourite writers since childhood), and now that I have actually written it down, I think the name suits it perfectly.
Just spent a lovely, quiet afternoon leafing through my stash of crochet magazines, getting inspired. In a while I'll be talking stitches with my sister, playing and cuddling with my niece and nephew and spend a nice evening before the start of the {probably hectic} new week. I hope you had a nice weekend too.

There is nothing more beautiful and memorable than a warm and handmade Christmas. So this year I thought it would be nice if I could start a bit early and avoid the last minute, pre-Christmas madness I always seem to inevitably fall into by burdening myself with too many projects. I used three different patterns for the big snowflakes and quite a simple one for the small ones. And I made them in baby blue and different shades of grey. No whites this time (except one tiny). For the whites I am saving one gorgeous and exquisite pattern. Have you started your Christmas crafting?
