Hot Air Balloon Earrings and other jewelries

The hot air balloon.
Definitely my favourite pattern of all I made recently.
Even as a little girl I was mesmerized by hot air balloons, especially their quality to be lifted seemingly effortlessly and swoosh up and away. They have always tickled my adventurous spirit and mind with the idea of far-away, foreign places they might take a person. So... these couple of jewelries yielded out of that love.
I made some earrings, necklaces and brooches.
They make me feel ridiculously joyous.

Crocheting mobiles

Besides garlands and other paper ornaments I made these mobiles for the craft party. For the Oriental one I used some of these and though the make was challenging I really enjoyed seeing it come to life.

The Moon and the Stars mobile was an idea I had cooking in my mind for a long time -  initially to be made out of fabric, but I changed my mind and crocheted them. I am quite satisfied with the stars; the hot air balloon needs to be revised and as for the moon / Chinese fortune cookie I jokingly say that it is still in beta and has to have some alterations.

I am happy that there was a great feedback on these so the effort was rewarded.

Etsy Craft Party 2013

Phew!
The Craft Party is over and I am glad to say we did a great job out of it.
The setting was rustic and with its soul and atmosphere I believe it was appropriate for the creative  workshop. We made a lot of garlands, mobiles and wall decorations.

Here are some pictures of what we did.

Next week, we plan to take them to the Children's Hospital and complete the event.

Talking Etsy on the radio!

Hi guys!
I cannot describe the hectic atmosphere around here, I expect to burst at the seams any minute.

As I have already mentioned I undertook the organization of the Etsy Craft Party 2013 in Macedonia and this year, following Etsy's theme, we will focus on humanity and what the members can do to help the local community. We as a team decided to make paper and fiber ornaments and donate them to the Children's Hospital in Skopje.  We hope that our imagination poured into these decorations will distract the children's thoughts off their stay in the hospital and  make their stay there more beautiful, joyous and happy.

The event will take place tomorrow -20th of June - and to promote it I had an interview at a local radio station Kanal 77, which I must say went smooth and fabulous (a huge thanks to Zorica - my host)!

A garland with the alphabet in Cyrillic ...

... paper ornaments graciously donated by a colleague of mine... and
a lot of other stuff I just couldn't take the time to document.

Hopefully, tomorrow I will have my interview published in the papers!
More to come - stay tuned!
{And wish me luck}

Summer sequin bracelets tutorial

I cannot imagine spending summer without beautiful accessories, especially when going to the beach.
Not that I go there decorated like a Christmas tree, but I like having a single (statement) piece of jewelry like an anklet, or a vibrant bracelet(s).

So, lately I've noticed that sequin bracelets have come into fashion again (didn't know that they were ever out!) with an Oriental twist. So, I made some for me and Eva.

Here's the how and the what you need:
 1. a) You'll need BIG round (disk) sequins or hexagon ones like the pinks in the picture for a full and dense look. The golden sequins are used as spacers. Unfortunately I couldn't find big golden ones so I used a bit smaller in size. If you can find golden or silver ones to match the size of the other beads, that would be splendid.
b) an elastic string or thread and
c) a needle

2. Big sequins are easily stackable. Get hold of a dozen, stack them nicely and thread onto the elastic line/ string.

3/4 When you make a nice portion you like, add the gold sequins.

5. Add the next portion of sequins... and so on until you are satisfied with it.

6. When finished beading, tie a knot, cut the elastic a bit longer and hide it by going through the sequins again.

We like them so much I am sure there will be another batch coming shortly :)

A heart garland and some awesome win

A couple of weeks ago I won Annemarie's awesome giveaway!

I cannot describe the feeling of wonderful anticipation while slowly opening the envelope. And then slowly taking one thing at a time, deliberately waiting before taking another one out just to prolong the feeling of happiness. Annemarie included some gorgeous items for me as you can see from the picture

The kitty meter - what can I say! It is double sided and it shows units in meters and inches. Just what I needed!!

From the heart cutouts I made a garland for the upcoming etsy craft party.
Thank you Annemarie for the wonderful gifts!!

Crafting

Hi guys!
I am here but maintaining a low profile :)

After having a long and absolutely refreshing weekend with my in-laws, leaving the kids with them now their school is over, I have a lot of time on my hands to finish some very important tasks. One of them being the Etsy Craft Party that will be held on the 20th of June. I hope it turns great. Because I am organizing it. At the mere thought of it my heart suddenly dislocates and miraculously it is in my throat now.
But I can handle pressure; as a matter of fact I do excellently under pressure so I am sure everything will be fine.

More about it in the course of the week.
Stay tuned!

Scarf refashion with fabric flowers

Quite a while ago I mentioned that I refashioned a couple of scarves, but it took a while to document the process.
Recently, I received these plain scarves I immediately felt were desperate for a refashion.

Initially I thought of crocheting different edges to the both of them, which I did but for the peach one, while for this, being off-white I wanted to sew lace I have in my stash, but I couldn't find the appropriate shade, so I decided to apply some fabric (silk) flowers. It turned out even greater than anticipated and I expect to use it a lot this summer.
