Dear readers I am happy to present my newest Treasure Box Jewelry Collection!

The collection was inspired by vintage jewelry, more specifically from the 1930s and 1940s. The collection showcases crochet necklaces, brooches and rings magically paired with pearl beads, fabric, laces and metal charms as accents to capture the vintage flair and emphasize femininity.
All the pieces of the collection are romantic, delicate and elegant to make any woman feel glamorous and enchanting.

A Wooden Spoon Doll - creative idea

 

 

 

For her Art class, Eva had to make a doll out of a wooden spool and she asked me if I would help her make one. Well, needless to say the child in me started jumping up and down out of joy. To be honest, this is not the first one we made.

 

When both my children were in kindergarten and junior school, we made dolls out of spoons, but not elaborate and beautiful as this one.

 

 

 

First we constructed the body and filled it with polyfil. Inserted the spoon and sew it all around.

 

Next using a small saucer we cut out a round piece of cotton for the underskirt and added a dotted tulle skirt over it. The "shirt" is actually the bodice which I sew gathered so that we wouldn't have to make a special top. Since we are not experienced in making / sewing doll arms and hands (or legs for that matter) we used a pipe cleaner instead. (We know the arms are too low, be gentle with us!) We added a decorative ric rac sash and a bead necklace to top it all.

 

Oh, yes... we also made a tulle cape. We tried a sateen and a cotton cape but they fell down too heavily and covered the tulle skirt which we think is the best on the doll so we opted for a tulle cape.

 

Beads are used for the eyes and mouth. I crocheted the hair and we especially like the locks.

We had so many fun ideas while making this one, it would be interesting to make some more and just give them away as gifts.

DIY Flower Clutch

 

 

 

Many, many summers ago, I bought myself several clutches and small bags (all being a bargain) and carried them dearly for the next summers of so. And there their story ends. I didn't have the heart to throw them away, so stored they remained for many years. Until a week or so, when it came to my attention that flower clutches are going to be popular this summer. And I remembered the forgotten ones. And I thought why not try a refashion....

 

It turned out great so this is how it went:

 

 

 

For this project, beside the clutch I used felt leaves and fabric flowers. I used both liquid silicone glue and hot glue.

 

 

First I took the clasp and the pocket off.

 

 

Next I glued the leaves on the clutch.

 

 Having worked out the arrangement for it previously, I gradually added / glued the flowers.

 

 

And here it is.

 

It is not an ordinary clutch but

perfect for summer cocktail parties.

Happy Monday! This is the last week of March and we have many interesting things to share with you here on the blog, so this week promises to be an interesting one!

Today we are offering a different kind of Monday inspiration. We are happy to introduce another amazing designer who joined our team. Rosa who is the master felter behind Rosa's Felt Shop.

 

 

 

 

She is a retiree who decided to give a new aspect to this stage of her life and make it more interesting, fulfilling and creative.

 

She loves to design amazing felt pieces and her interest focuses on ponchos and capes, bags, hats and other accessories.

 

She works with 100% wool that she dies herself and I was amazed to find out that she dies most of it naturally using walnuts, quince leaves, Japanese cherry leaves, St. John's wort. She wet felts her pieces and designs them inspired by the wonderful nature.

Spring Wreath DIY

 

 

 

 

 

 

The first day of spring. I think the word itself is full with blooms and nightingale songs and caressing rays of the bashful sun. All this is supported by the world outside my window and to celebrate the advent of its majesty I made this adorable spring wreath. And you can make it too, because I am adding links to patterns for flowers, leaves, butterflies and beads you can use for the wreath.

 

To make this lovely wreath I used an embroidery hoop, a collection of flowers and leaves, yarn to cover the hoop (you can use ribbon - it's much easier), a sewing needle and thread.

 

 

 

 

If you choose to crochet around the hoop, and note that this could be awkward, take a chunky yarn so the crochet would be easier, faster and plushier.

 

To make the flowers, use these patterns:

Work on the arrangement of flowers around the hoop, pin and sew. I didn't want to use any glue for this step, because sometimes glue makes some projects  look sloppy, and I find it much professional and better when flowers are sewn onto a project like this particular one.

 

When done, add a ribbon or a thread of yarn in the center and it is ready for hanging.

 

This makes an adorable nursery décor too, so it is a great gift for a new mom!

Have you heard of Mizzie Morawez?

Well, I had the pleasure to learn about her a couple of years ago, and while planning the Inspiration Mondays I thought she certainly deserves more attention and a little space to be given on my blog to showcase her stunning crochet pieces. For, whenever I come upon one of Mizzie's creations, I stop immediately to wonder in awe at her astonishing and extraordinary freeform crochet. The unbelievable and exceptional construction of her pieces, use of yarn, colors and patterns will leave you speechless. Literally.
