Here's an easy weekend project! This is a free crochet pattern for a basket which when Easter is over can be used as a jewelry/ trinkets holder, so it can be used all year round.
The basket pattern makes it gain an interesting bubbly shape. DK yarn is used for this project and a 3 mm hook.
For the flowers I use embroidery floss and a 1mm hook.
Basket Pattern:
Ch 5 and join to make a ring. Sc 5 in ring.
Round 1: sc2 in every stitch (10)
Round 2: sc2 in every stitch (20)
Round 3:sc2 in every stitch (40)
Round 4: sc1 in every stitch (40)
Round 5: sc2, sc1 (60)
Round 6-7: sc1 in every stitch (60)
Round 8: sc2, sc1 (90)
Round 9: sc1 in every stitch (90)
Round 10: sc2, sc1 (135)
Round 11: sc1 in every stitch (135)
Round 12: sc2tog, sc1 (90)
Round 13: sc2tog, sc1 (60)
Round 14: sc1 in every stitch (60).
The increase and decrease make this unusual shape. Add flowers, ribbons or whatever tickles your fancy and it is ready! Making this was a bit tedious, to be honest, but I believe the effort was worth it!
For the flowers and leaves use some of the patterns I shared here
Have a lovely weekend!
Maya this is such a cute little basket. I can see using it for so much more but since it is easter this is perfect. Pinning!
ReplyDeleteIt so lovely having you over Mary. Thank you! Glad you like it!
DeleteMaya, your basket is darling - thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome Kate! It makes a nice handmade gift :)
DeleteThe basket looks pretty cute. My devious (lazy) mind has a short cut for the same if you do not mind. Find a round crochet coaster/mat and gather up the edges with yarn of the same color by sewing or by adding crochet loops to reduce the width. Ta da Basket ready! better still use a crocheted skull cap (menat for kids) as a basket Did I mention I was devious? :D
ReplyDeleteAnd that's another way to do it. Much easier. And if you don't crochet, just tge right thing:)
DeleteSuch a pretty little basket, Maya. Such an excellent gathering place for those pretty eggs.
