Find Joy in the Ordinary Things -Beautifying a Tee

Say hello to our newest t-shirt face-lift. 

When I first laid eyes on this shirt I immediately knew I would be doing some "improvements" and 3-Diing it. 

This is the shirt before...

... and this is our crochet Botox, with some tulle fillers and pearly implants :) 

Of course, as I worked I discarded some of the materials (like the ribbon and the sateen) and added others (like the plastic leaves and light blue tulle).

The first and the most consuming thing was stitching the sequins onto the butterflies. I then added (sewed) the crochet flowers onto the prints and filled the others with artificial flowers, organza flowers and tulle roses accompanied by artificial and plastic leaves. After I finished decorating the prints, the tee felt bare (what an oxymoron!!) and I decided to add a circle of tulle around it.  I gathered it as I went along so it gives the tee a nice, finishing texture. I also sprinkled sequins all inside it, but they are not conspicuous because they are transparently bluish. 

Do I need to say how much we like it? :)

Delicate Glamour Collection - part one

 

 

For the Glamour pieces, I used glass beads in combination with small crochet segments - either flowers or tubes, enriched with metal components or pearls. 

They are all into function of enhancing a delicate and dainty glamorous look. Effortlessly chic. 

 

1950s Collection Photo Shoot {a sneak peek}

Let me show you a glimpse of the wonderful photo shoot we had for our 1950s inspired collection. This collection is composed of two parts.

I named the first part Delicate Glamour and as the name suggests, the pieces I created are feminine and romantic with a touch of luxury and extravagance.

The second part is called Modest Debonair  and focuses more on the dapper, down to earth, yet jazzy and effervescence quality of fashion in the 1950s.

Thistle Necklace

You won't be seeing me shaking oya off for a while, so here we are again with an interesting oya necklace I made. 

And earrings too. Ever since I made the thistle pattern I was itching for a necklace and as soon as Eva's prom was over, I let myself play with the crochet thread and came up with this design for the necklace.

Instagram inspiration: Travel diaries of Idda Van Munster

Searching for some 1950s images as inspiration for my upcoming collection, I discovered Aida on instagram. Being a nut over travels, vintage fashion and breathtakingly styled photography, she was the perfect epitome of everything I loved.  

Aida works under her pseudonym Idda Van Munster. She is a Bosnian blogger, model and make-up artist. She is  actually Bosnia's first pin-up girl who finds inspiration from the fashion and hairstyles of the 1920s to 1960s. 

She collaborates with many brands and designers and combines her love of fashion with the love of travel. The final outcome is her incredible, mind-blowing travel diary on instagram.

Currently she is in Cappadocia (on my bucket list) and working with photographer Maja Topcagic they've created an amazing travelogue. Do check them out!

Eva's Prom Dress

 

My daughter had her prom night yesterday. Discussing ideas for the dress, she came to me with a picture from the internet and an idea how she'd like that particular dress to be changed for her. She asked me and my mother to make it for her. I was ecstatic. My grandma and mother had made my prom dress and this was history repeating. 

My mother tailored it and we both took parts in sewing it all together. It was a joint labour of love. The initial idea for the bodice was to have tulle insets stitched with different shapes and sizes of sequins and pearls, which Eva decided in the last moment she didn't like that, so a week of stitching was thrown away and I started stitching the sequins directly onto the bodice. Exhausting, but I loved every single stitch. The greatest satisfaction for me and proof that she really liked it was when she tried the finished dress for the first time and started jumping around the room in sheer joy. 

The bodice is heavily adorned at the upper part and gets less decorated as it goes down. The back has just small splashes of sequins. 

The dress falls down in full circle. 

She aimed at a romantic rock look, so she paired the dress with a cropped denim jacket. Instead of high heels, she chose flats. She finished her look with a small, shiny bag. She also had a silver corsage with silver and purple flowers, but I forgot to include it in the last picture. 

She reported having "a blast" last night, so I am happy I took part in making my girl make wonderful memories!

Oya Crochet Coming Up!

Hello dear lovelies,

I am here today with a little announcement. 
Everything crochet is currently being on hold because I am  working on my daughter's prom dress. I cannot show you anything right now, but the dress is sewn and I am actually embroidering beads and sequins onto tulle strips which will be sewn on the bodice of the dress. 

But I do have to show you these amazing oya pieces the patterns of which are in my newest pattern Oya Crochet, I have been working on and off for the past month. Hopefully it will see the light of day this coming Friday or Saturday, so stay tuned!

Antiquated Rose Necklace

The starting point of many (if not all) of the necklaces I am getting ready for my new collection are the glass beads I have bought in several colors. Needless to mention, they became my weakness. 

For this particular necklace I paired them with pearl beads. The color of the yarn along with the beads assemblage give the necklace an antiquated feel, delicate and soft.

The clutch is also made with the same yarn, but that is a story for another time.
