Happy Summer

Happy summer guys!
This one is going to be different than all the others, but what can we do?
June is passing through my fingers unnoticeably. Lots of projects designed and started, but somehow I cannot make myself pick up the hook and actually finish something. I am more concentrated on mixing and matching crochet projects right now.

When I started exploring the Susani squares, I made this central square (below), but changed my mind because of the color. Because I knew I wouldn't find any practical use for such a square, and would have hated  just seeing it lying around, I crocheted the side panels and turned it into a bracelet. I embellished it with some lovely flowers and added beads.  So not everything is wasted :)

What are your plans for the summer?
Here, they opened up the borders, but if you go out of the country, you'll be quarantined  upon return for 14 days, and honestly, we do not feel like traveling abroad right now. So we stay put.

  1. It's going to be a while before most of us feel like we can comfortably travel again. We still have a curfew and so many restrictions and they keep delaying reopening of businesses. The one and only place I want to go is to the States to see my boys and my mom but I'm thinking it's not the place to be with the virus, protests and a presidential election in the fall. A crazy time all around which is why I am constantly out of sorts. You would not like to see all the projects I've got around here, finished and unfinished. Really need to find any sort of use for it all. Your crochet designs are always so lovely. Take care.

    1. I completely agree Tammy! We don't have a curfew now, but the numbers are not slowing down, and that is frightening. I cannot fathom how you must feel now, not being able to see your loved ones. For consolation, my mom lives about 4km away from me, and I haven't seen her since March. She's 70 and I'd rather not endanger her health. We compensate by being on viber and phone daily. This too shall pass, but I am afraid of the consequences it might provoke. Sending lots of love your way!

  2. Gorgeous bracelet, Maya! I love it. I think sometimes it takes puttering around with the media as part of the creative process, even if doesn’t immediately net any finishes. I can tell you right now that if you share it on Creative Compulsions, it’s getting featured. :D

May I ask where you live Maya? We have had a partial reopening on business here in Las Vegas, Nevada, but my husband and I are not really doing anything different than we did during the shut down. We have eaten at a restaurant outside on the patio. That’s it. I don’t feel comfortable going inside any businesses.

    1. Thank you Michelle, I already shared it :)
Yes, businesses here are slowly reopening, but we too have been reluctant going out for coffee or to restaurants. Somehow, everything seems surreal now. As if we are in a dystopian movie.
By the way, I am from Skopje, Macedonia.

  3. This square turned bracelet is gorgeous, Maya. Maybe you could do the same with the other Susani squares too?

Since I don't travel this summer would have been the same as any other if it weren't for the safety measures everywhere that have changed our old way of life: hot, hot and unbearable hot. I feel bad for you though, I know you love travelling.

    1. Haha, great minds think alike.. I tried that immediately but the squares are just too big. Might try turning them into wall hangings.
Yes. I adore travelling, but honestly I wouldn't go anywhere right now even if my life depended on it...

  5. You made such a pretty crocheted cuff. I seemed to have lost my mojo to crochet anything. I crocheted a little iphone crossbody holder with leftover yarn but that is about it. I just don't know what to make. We don't have any plans to travel right now. I am so happy we traveled to Asia last summer. We might just do a few days vacation at the beach. I am ok with that as we sit out in my yard in the afternoons and evenings. Happy first day of summer and enjoy the weekend Maya.

    1. We have many amazing places here Julie, so we would revisit and redescover our beautiful country but always at a distance and out in nature. So sad to adapt to the new now as me and hubs love people, especially our big and crazy bunch of friends.

  6. I cannot believe that any of the gorgeous pretties you fashion, you cannot find a use for, Maya. =) You have turned little pretty into a lovely bracelet. As for what am I going to do in Summer......when it arrives in about six months, I am going to sit in my swinging seat in the garden and just soak in all that happy sunshine and flowers that abound at that time of the year. As for now, perhaps a little hand stitching whilst the cosy fire warms my day.

    1. Well, it happens Kim :)
While relaxing I tend to crochet on a whim and most often without a clear idea what I will use that for. And after that I challenge myself and try incorporate it into a bigger project. It's part of my creative process.
Your vision of spending summer is divine :)
