Our latest bohemian collection will be enriched with some oya necklaces. Oya crochet has been on my mind for a while now, and finally it is being realized.
The frame of the necklace is made from ecru thread, while the little flowers are from DMC embroidery thread. I didn't use traditional oya (sewing needle) technique to make these - instead a regular crochet hook was used.
There are 10 necklaces ready which are planned for a photo shoot later this month. We have already settled for a location which we think is the perfect fit for these.
The necklaces look like a bunch of poppies to me :-) Love it! Again!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the results of the photoshoot.
Have a great weekend, Sigrid
Thank you Sigrid!

ReplyDeleteSo lovely Maya, but I think I say that about all your wonderful creations ;-) Best of luck with the photoshoot, can't wait to see how it turns out
ReplyDeleteMaya they are really beautiful. I have a question for you. My mom taught me a few things when I was a little girl and they looked like these here. However she used this ivory colored instrument. It was the length of a pinky finger and it looked like a green bean shape sort of.the two sides were held together in the middle by a round piece. Am I making any sense at all. I remember her making lace like crochet that looked exactly like your necklace.
ReplyDeleteOh Mary I think I know what you are talking about but cannot put the name to it. I don't use that tool, just an ordinary hook. I am also transfixed by the crochet technique people use to make lace using spools. I think they are called spools. Maybe someone reading this will help us with the name and /or the technique you described.
