I weaved my first rug on Crafts classes in primary school. And then fast forward a couple of decades you find me in my classroom paper weaving a magic carpet for the Aladdin story. And that was it. Of course, in the '80s the tapestry wall hanging fever caught us all but it was a completely different method so I don't count that.
And I am sure we've all been oohing and aahing at the gorgeous weaving wall hanging fever that took over the world again a year (or maybe it was two) ago. Ever since, I've been praying for a little time off my hands to happily indulge in this long forgotten activity. And I made that happen. I started off with a tiny project in pinks just to get the feel of it, as one would say, and needless to say I got hooked. The tiny weaving is as big as a thumb and I made a brooch out of it.
Then I tried with a longer piece of cardboard (I used cardboard as a loom) and tried to make a necklace - it is not finished yet, but when I have it done you'll be the first to know. Until then, I have some gorgeous pieces and techniques pinned here. You may want to check them out!
Visiting your lovely blog always fills me with joy and anticipation. Love your little weavings, Maya. I am thinking I just might have to try some of these. Followed to your weaving Pinterest board; of course I am following you as there are so many inspirational ideas to be found there...thank you, once again!
