Last year, when I was immersed in cable crochet and it was the only thing I could busy my hands with, I also made this cape.
It features a cable design, rich edging and an enormous button. Although
in a shape of a plain rectangle, it offers a lot of possibilities for
fun styling. There are two loops on the top and bottom of one side and
it can be buttoned up with one of them for a nice, polished look, or both
at the same time for a flouncy look.
The width of the cape allows it to be folded at the upper part so the cape gains another interesting, layered look.
Styling it around the neck with the button in the center will turn this into a rich neck-warmer.
It's in my shop.

It looks so pretty and versatile! I love the giant button as well. :-)
Lovely !

I love this! I like the colour and the pattern is so cozy!
This is beautiful, Maya, and I love the giant button!!!
I love the idea of the big button to keep the warmer in place. Its very difficult to make a shawl stay put particularly when working or walking.
Thank you! I have had it for years and thought it was high time I used it for a project!
Thank you Anna!
Many thanks dear!
Thank you so much Kate!
This one will also be accompanied with a flower pin so that the recipient has even more possibilities to play with styles.
I absolutely love this! And the huge button looks perfect!
Such a gorgeous cape, Maya. The button is fabulous and the cable detail is pretty. Another clever design you have created.
Thank you!
I have always loved cables. My gran had me knitted a teal cable sweater I loved to pieces, so making this reminded me of her. Cannot remember what happened to it. I wish I still had it!
Happy belated Christmas to you, Maya! I love your cable cape... Years ago I worked at a fabric store and fell in love with big buttons. I brought home some 2" buttons for a coat that I wanted to make and then put some on a wool jumper I sewed for my mother. I still have those 2" black buttons... ;) But I don't think I have seen a monster sized button like yours!!! Will have to look for one. <3
If you stop over this week to Share Your Style #330, I'll look for your cape to feature next week; kind of a New Year's projects to do post.
Enjoy your New Year, stay healthy and here's to 2022!
Hugs,
Barb :)

Oh, btw, Maya,
Do you ever visit Shelbee from Shelbee on the Edge?? She does a fashion blog and link up each week that you might like to share your crochet creations with. (bad grammar, I know!) I've become good friends with her through the blogging world and I think you'd enjoy posting there and meeting her. It's a good-sized link party, too!
Happy New Year,
Barb :)
Oh, dear Barb! That is so kind of you! Thank you so much! I never miss your new posts as well as parties, so I am joining for sure! This button was a gift that came with an issue of Simple Crochet where I contributed with a necklace pattern so it has emotional value, one I managed to overcome and part with it. I would hate to see it plainly sitting in the box over the next years and thought it would bring somebody joy! As for Shelbee, I follow her blog too, and link my accessories and apparel on her parties. Thank you for the suggestiin though. I appreciate it! Last but not the least, may you have an incredible New Year ahead!! Hugs!
Maya, I love this crochet cape! The color is so pretty and the big button is super fun. You are so talented! I really wish I knew how to crochet or knit but I have never taken the time to sit down and learn. Wishing you a wonderful New Year!
Shelbee
