I have a huge collection of these funny crochet quotes that always cheer me up and make me laugh. Hope you like them too.

Crochet Wind Spinner - free pattern

Happy weekend guys! Today I have the perfect weekend project for you!

The crochet community has been charmed with these wind spinners, and I readily jumped on the bandwagon and made some for my nieces and nephews. 

Now, before we begin with the pattern, I want to say that the spinners in these pictures  are quite short (foundation: 31 chains) and are taken as an example. 

To make an effective spinner, you have to have a foundation of at least 50 chains (more are recommended).

Important: The pattern is for personal use only. All property rights belong to Maya Kuzman of The Little Treasures.

What you need:

 *sport yarn in 3 colors and a 3mm hook. 

* tapestry needle for weaving ends

* (optional: beads, tassels, etc.) 

 

Used stitches in American terminology: chain (ch), stitches (st.), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc).

 

 

 

Foundation and row 1: (leave a long tail) In color A, ch71 and starting from 2nd st. sc1 in all stitches across (70). Cut yarn and leave a long tail. Do not turn work. 

Row 2: with crochet work face up, insert color B in 1st st.,ch3 (counts as the 1st dc) and dc1 again in same stitch. Dc2 in next and all remain stitches of the row (140).
Cut yarn and leave a long tail. Do not turn work. The work is already shaping up.

Row 3: with crochet work face up, insert color C in foundation row, ch10 and sl st in the 1st st of the second row. You can skip adding the loop, which is for hanging purposes and start crocheting right into row 2. Ch3 (counts as the 1st dc) and dc1 in the same st. Dc2 in next and all remain stitches of the row (280).This is also optional. You can cut yarn and weave the row 3 tail here, or sl st to get to the foundation row, cut yarn with a long tail (as I did).

 

 

Tie all tails together into a tight knot. Here you can add a tassel, or string beads on the tails and tie a knot at the end to secure the beads not to fall down once you are done.

Princess Headband - pattern release

 

Happy Monday, friends! Here's another piece from our "Nymph" Collection. 

The beautiful Princess Headband pattern features three "crowns" at the top, and changing the tying style makes this headband unique in appearance.

What you need to make this headband:
Yarn and hook: sport or DK yarn of your choice (30 gr) and a 3.00 mm hook (UK11) (US 10/3).
I used the brand Phil Cotton 4 which is a DK yarn. Tapestry needle for weaving ends.

Used terms (American terminology): chain (ch), chain space (ch-sp), stitch (st.), slip stitch (sl st), skip (sk), single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc), 3-ch picot.

Finished measurement of headband without ties: 30 cm / 11.81” across and 7 cm / 2.75” down with crown part included. Ties: 47 cm (5.90”) each.

Grace Wrist-Warmers in Pink

 

I've just added pink lace warmers in the shop. These are a tad shorter than the blue ones, but equally eye-catching.

Grace Fingerless Warmers

 

I am happy to share that my updated and refreshed Grace warmers pattern is back in the shops!

Happy Granny Square Day!

 

Aaah!! Granny squares!

The crocheters around the world celebrated the International Granny Square Day, and I loved seeing the mind-blowing array of grannies.  Though I didn't participate this year, I am working on a granny square collection for the upcoming autumn/winter!

Crochet Pants - yay or nay?

  

I have been seeing crochet pants everywhere lately -  from indie to haute couture designers.  

To be honest, I have mixed feelings about them. I find some cute, some funny, but it is probably my age, and of course my style. Looking at all of them I get the feeling that they might not be comfortable to have on - but again, how can I know, when I have never worn ones?

Regarding the designs/patterns they are made in - I am in awe. A beautiful array of pattern stitches matched together to a perfection.

Crochet Bloops: Maya Filet & Lace Top

Ehem... Today's post dear readers, is about how to turn your  mistakes into new possibilities. 

I was working on this design for a skirt. So the upper filet part was to be at the hips that was supposed to have a luxurious, net-like, knee-length fall-down.  However, I didn't like how that was progressing and frogged the lower part countless times. I must admit, the heat wave had its own great influence here, because it was driving me crazy and truly clouded my thinking. 

So in my umpteenth time trying to get it right, I made Eva try it, and I wasn't satisfied with what I was seeing. I am not a quitter, but it was still too short after hours of working and re-working, so I decided to throw my towel in and call it quits. But, bless my girl! She just slid it up and said: "Why don't we make this a top?" I swear - I could have cried right then and there, but I was too excited, because I LOVED IT! I added a shelled trim to it to finish it and that was it!

Now, you cannot see this, but being measured for the hips, it is too wide for the bust, so the top is tied at the back for these pictures. I wanted to see if the design would really be good for a top. I have to change the measurements to fit, and I plan   to add either shoulder straps or ties to it, because I don't want to sew an elastic to it and leave as is. I am letting it cook in my head for a while, but hopefully there will be a pattern for this lovely.

Crochet Watermelon Coasters - free pattern

 

Watermelons always remind me of summer! You? Do you like watermelons? 

If you do, here's  a lovely and easy pattern to make watermelon coasters this weekend.

Important: The pattern is for personal use only. All property rights belong to Maya Kuzman of The Little Treasures.

 

Supplies: 

1) Sport yarn in 3 colors (red, light and dark green) in brand of your choice and a 3 mm hook (leftover yarn is great for this project);

2) Cylindrical seed beads in black or brown and a sewing needle and thread;

3) Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

 

Crochet stitches in American terminology: chain (ch), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc).

Measurements: 10cm x 10 cm

  

Foundation and round 1: In red, ch5 and join with a sl st to make a ring. ch2 in all stitches (not in ring) Sl st with 1st st. to end round (10).

Round 2: Ch3 (counts as the 1st dc) and dc1 in 1st st., dc2 in all sts. left. Sl st with 1st st. to end round (20)

Round 3: Ch3 (counts as the 1st dc) and dc1 in 1st st., dc1 in next st. From here dc2 in one st., dc1 in the next for the whole round. Sl st with 1st st. to end round (30)

Round 4: Ch3 (counts as the 1st dc) and dc1 in 1st st., dc1 in next 2 sts. From here dc2 in one st., dc1 in the next 2 sts for the whole round. Sl st with 1st st. to end round (30)

Round 5: In light green, insert yarn in 1st st and sc1 in the same stitch. Next, sc2 in all. Sl st with 1st st. to end round (60) 

Round 6: In dark green, insert yarn in 1st st, ch2 (counts as the 1st hdc) and hdc1 in the same stitch. Next, hdc2 in all. Sl st with 1st st. to end round (60).

 

Work all the tails. Thread a sewing needle and sew the beads all over the watermelon. Add more or less than shown in the pictures. I used tiny black cylindrical seed beads that I sewed in between stitches, so the surface is not disturbed and remains flat.

Lilah Ruffled Top - crochet pattern release

 

Meet "Lilah" - another top from my "Nymph" Collection. This is a design I had swirling in my head for a while, and I am happy it turned out better than I expected. It has a corset flair due to the stripe pattern at the front which can be better seen at the picture below, and although being a simple tube top, I am glad the ruffles and the stripes gave it structure and volume. 

 

Eva fell in love with it immediately and has worn it a couple of times already, which makes me immensely happy!
