Simplicity - down memory lane

Cleaning up, I found this Simplicity sewing pattern catalog that belonged to my maternal grandmother, and that I have been keeping for ages. Someone gifted this to grandma and it dates back to the late '70s - early '80s. The binder was ruined so I cannot tell the exact year, and I couldn't find it online as well. However, it's an almost 1000 pages catalog, and leafing through it, it brought lots of memories; going through it and choosing what grandma would sew for us grand kids.

Now,  the Simplicity patterns were not available here at that time, not that grandma really needed ones as she had a technical brain. What I mean by this is that she would only need to look at the outfit, take measurements and draw the pattern directly onto the fabric. And amazingly, it would turn out exactly as shown in the pictures. No prior pattern drafting, nothing. Grandma was a wizardess.

As I am decluttering, I finally decided to let go of the catalog, and just cut out a handful of pages to serve as inspiration or to use in my junk journaling. I wish to archive those memories here, and have a kind of a digital memory post.

Must say that as a teenager I always liked the illustrations / drawings more rather than the real models' photos, and strangely, after so many years I still feel the same.

Mix'N Match - Creating a Necklace

It's been ages since I created this necklace (last summer to be exact :) ) and it was intended for my Mix & Match series that I wanted to transfer over to my You Tube channel. Finally, it's done.
For those of you that are new here, Mix & Match is a series where I show how to incorporate, join, mix and match left over pieces from my past projects to create something new. In jewelry crochet design specifically, I am left with many samples, crochet elements that I do not throw away, but reuse to make new jewelry pieces and/or accessories.

The video of the process is here

Crochet Mesh Hat - pattern +video

These mesh hats are popping up like mushrooms after the rain. Quite a rage this spring, and normally, Eva requested one. I made it adding my own take to it. Quite easy and fast to make, and while I knew it - I was on my third.
The video is here, the pattern here and there.

Woven triangle scarf

We have had a cold spell in the otherwise fine weather, and it broke this week, when I finally finished working on this woven scarf. I always seem to compete with the weather, and it usually becomes too warm to show off my winter makes, so I kind of lose the momentum, will, and interest to show my makes, but this time I don't really care, and will continue working on my unfinished winter knits and crochets. As for the scarf, well, it is the same technique I used for my previous one, only this time it is a triangle. The video is here, and if you want a written pattern for a fraction of the price, it is in my ravelry and lovecrafts shops.
What have you been working on lately?
