Post-Epiphany calmness

We've started the week with batteries all filled up to bursting, having spent an amazing  weekend filled with lots of music, good food and unforgettable customs and traditions.

The city of Ohrid was jam-packed with natives and tourists for the "catching of the cross" during the celebration of the Epiphany.

These were the  strongest people I've ever seen, both mentally and physically,  to jump in the freezing water for the cross. The north wind that was blowing fiercely was bone piercing.

I also didn't miss the opportunity to drop by my favourite yarn shop and buy some gorgeous angora yarn.
I've started making a beret hat and am quite curious how it will turn out.

 Have a great start too!

Oh goodness, they look chilly those people. Eep! I could never do it.

The yarn will make an amazing beret, Maya!

Enjoy the calm! I love reading about your holiday celebrations! We have polar bear swims where we live on new years, I could never do it. I do look forward to seeing your beret.

Goodness me, yes, people in my country skinny dip in the water, too, to celebrate January 1st. Not me though, I'm always way too cold! Love that fun beret of yours!

Hi, Maya

What a lovely place and the water does look cold. There is a city here in Florida that does the same thing every year. It's a great event. The yarns is gorgeous.

I've not heard of this tradition before. Very interesting! You definitely would not catch me jumping into freezing cold water. Yikes! Hope you've had a great week. Tammy
