Embossed crochet is a crochet technique that creates textured relief by employing front and back post double crochet stitches and the crochet designs look as if they were knit and have the quality of Aran knitting.
Most designs worked in this amazing technique are inspired by nature. The one below of the pink bag featuring a 3D leaf pattern has been quite popular and has taken the crochet world by a storm.
Personally, I would love to try it and have the pattern in tow.
Have you tried embossed crochet? Do you like it?

All of that crochet work is just beautiful Maya. I wish I could do work like that but I seem to only have the attention span of working on simple and small projects. My aunt taught me how to make the chain stitch when I was little and I would admire the crochet lace she would make and then attach to my moms pillow cases. She used to crochet the pineapple stitch for the lace. She would be happy knowing that I am crocheting even though it's simple projects!
Well anyways I hope you have a nice weekend.
Aren't they Julie?!
My grandma taught me to crochet and she did made embossed sweaters. I particularly remember a blue one she made for me in high school! I wore it lovingly for many years and it had an embossed front (leves and vines). Sadly, I don't have a photo of it. She reserved crochet for doilies and tablecloths which she was famous for. I am sure your aunt would be happy knowing you use your skills to bring warmth to your home and your friends and family :)
Meant to said embossed knit sweaters.
Oh wow, all these embossed crochet pretties are incredible. I am always astounded as to the gorgeous designs that abound in the world of crochet. That little bag is sweet, as is the shawl in the first picture....BUT....the blanket/throw.....that is unbelievable! I cannot begin to imagine the work that has gone into this most amazing piece.
Beautiful crochet to inspire. The bedspread pattern is spectacular. I love the 3D qualities of crochet. Thank you for sharing your findings.
You know Kim, when I laid my eyes on that blanket I was im awe and thought how much effort and time and good will was invested to make it! It is truly a work of art!
Thank you for dropping by Jodie!
How do you get the patterns?
Click on the VIA text below the pctures.
How do I get the pattern for the crochet reversible leaf shawl? There is no VIA text below the picture.
The one without the VIA is found from Pinterest with no link back to credit the designer, hence I could not link it back. Try searching pinetrest using the term "reversible crochet leaf pattern" to see all such linked patterns.
