This fall I have been tilting more towards soft and cozy layered vintage looks, dreaming up combinations of cardigan covered floral dresses and sweaters or maybe fauna printed shirts over pants but the climate is mirroring my climacteric self, serving springlike, balmy weather and I cannot  ditch all the summer clothes, yet!

But my, oh my do I wish for a bit of a cool-down soon, so that I can liven up my dreams.

Handcarved Queen Anne's Lace Hook

  

I love social media, especially instagram because, aside for being an immense source of inspiration, it also enables me to connect with  many talented people I wouldn't have met or learned about otherwise. 

I met Anna through her uniquely handcarved hooks. 

The minute I saw them, my heart melted!

Anna generously offered to send one as a gift and my, oh my, I am now a proud owner of this beautiful little masterpiece!

To witness the beauty of it you have to see it in person. The craftsmanship is exquisite - the long and glossy curved body of the hook is crowned with a perfectly carved hook. 

The design is the one that proved to me that the universe honestly knows what it is doing - I didn't know what the design of this hook is going to be and I gasped when I saw it!

Queen Anne's Lace - would you believe it?! My very first /oldest crochet design I put up for sale was the Queen Anne's Lace Headband! This hook was meant to be mine!!!

 

     

  
Understandably, I had to test it right away and it was the  most pleasurable experience!

Autumnal Leaves - crochet pattern

Let me show you the inspiration for my autumnal jewelry collection which I compiled into a short photo tutorial. 

I made 5 simple yet effective leaves and vine patterns which can be used as home décor, applique or unique jewelry!

I also made a garland using the leftovers and let me tell you - these can make any corner happy and cheerful!

The Sewing Box Magazine in Spanish

 

Happy Monday all!

I finally have my copy of the Sewing Box Magazine!!

It arrived on Friday and I cannot put it down ever since. 

What makes me even happier and content is the fact that I received the Spanish paper edition - of course I also have the English digital edition, but it makes me ridiculously excited about the Spanish one because - if you didn't know, I studied Spanish at the uni and I was quite good at it. Sadly, I haven't had many occasions to use it so naturally it fell into a slight oblivion. I do understand a lot but engaging into a real conversation is almost impossible. 

So now, I take my time browsing through it, reading the interviews (sometimes aloud) and admiring the projects inside, although reading the patterns is quite tricky :) 

The whole experience with the TSB Team has been divine and fulfilling and I am thankful for being offered this amazing opportunity to gain a wider audience.

Leafy Crochet Jewelry - a small peek

 

 

A sneak peek into my autumnal jewelry.  

Eva is too busy with uni, so time is scarce and probably it'll take some time for us to shoot the whole collection, so here's just a peek of a tryout we did while in Ohrid a couple of weeks ago.

Fall Decorations

 

I picked this idea on pinterest and knew that I had to try drawing on chestnuts and I thoroughly enjoyed doodling over them.
I also love the contrast the white paint makes or the other way round. They make my dresser a warm and cozy corner. 

Needless to say that these are now my favourite fall decoration. 

 

 

Autumnal Woodland Coasters

 

 

This is one of those project I had swirling in my head for quite a while and I am happy it turned out exactly as I had imagined it!

The coasters are made of cotton yarn weaved with a golden thread so it gives the rustic coasters a drop of shine. I chose pumpkins, acorns, mushrooms and flowers as embellishments and they all complement each other to make an appealing set.

Autumnal Rose - a crochet necklace

This is one of the pieces of my autumnal collection I wanted to show you guys, and although I have completed the shooting of it, the editing is taking time, so I guess I will have to take one step at a time. 

The whole collection (mostly) consists of earthen, fall colors and is inspired by nature, so expect all kinds of leaves and flowers. This one I called autumnal rose and for it I used cotton yarn I brought back from Turkey last time we went to Istanbul. Why the mention? It has golden threads woven through it and though you cannot really tell from the pictures, in real life it it gorgeous!

Spooktacular Halloween - free crochet pattern

Are you getting ready for Halloween?

I have crocheted some cute pumpkins but other than that, our home is still not fully decorated. But the Halloween mood is certainly on because the  kids have been watching Goosebumps 2 for the umpteenth time. 

I published a Spooktacular pattern 5 years ago (cannot believe it's actually that old) and quite enjoyed making the witches and pumpkins, which surprisingly have held strong and are still in mint condition so I will certainly put them up this year too!

Having a soft spot for folk tales, starting from last year, I began following the folk art illustration tag on instragram and for the child in me it has been an everlasting source of inspiration! 

One one such hunt for an inspiring illustration I came upon this amazing girl called Olga Valeska.  

Olga is an artist, a creator, a fine art photographer, an illustrator and a seamstress. She lives in the French Alps where she finds inspiration to make clothes, folk decorations, illustrations and photography prints. 

 

She writes a blog and if you know French you can learn more about her and her work, or just have an everyday cup of beautiful images following her adventures on instagram.
