Bottle Cap Ring Tutorial - Courtesy of Cat Morley

Hi guys!
As I mentioned a couple of days ago, wonderful Cat of Cut Out + Keep is promoting the release of her new book and as a gift she offers this superb tutorial for making a bottle cap ring. This is a unique way of showing off vacation snaps. So let's begin!

What you need:
- a photo (see tip below)
- sticker paper
- bottle cap
- contact paper
- 2" (2.5 cm) plastic disc
- ring base
-craft knife
- dimensional glue
- hot glue gun

Follow the steps below:

This could also be an interesting pendant :)
For my bottle cap ring, I used an image I cut out from vintage paper and since I didn't have any dimensional glue at hand (but was itching to try this myself right then) I used liquid silicone glue which took ages to dry and when it did it left bubbles inside. However, I think the bubbles add it up to the cuteness and I love how it turned out. Next time I try this, I would use dimensional glue for neater effect!

Thank you Cat for letting us use your fantastic tutorial!
If you want to buy the book and try any of the 50  projects included, you can do so here

resin will give the best effect but DM also works. Pop the bottle in a can of hot (not boiling) water for a minute to reduce bubbles

Fantastic! What a fun project, it turned out great - I can't see any bubbles.

This is a great idea. I think it would work great with bits of scrap fabric or lace!

A great idea! And offers so many possibilities! The only thing I've ever done with metal caps is a menorah, using them for candle holders. And I have a whole bag of the stuff. Somewhere.
