Happy May!

Happy belated 1st of May beautiful, hard-working people! It is a national holiday in my country and we had the day off! I mean those that still go to work had. In the past it was celebrated by peaceful demonstrations and concerts / appropriate entertaining events to note the day and as remembrance of the first one in Chicago back in 1886, but sadly in the past 20 years it was reduced to celebrating it by going out on picnics. This year even that was different under the circumstances.

How was your day? Do you celebrate it where you are from? How do you celebrate it?

We don’t formally celebrate May Day in America. But it sounds like a lovely holiday. Does May Day commemorate a specific event? Or is the welcoming of the season? May I ask which country you are from, Maya?

Michelle,International Workers' Day, also known as Labour Day in some countries and often referred to as May Day, is a celebration of labourers and the working classes that is promoted by the international labour movement and occurs every year on May Day (1 May). I am from Macedonia :)

May Day used to be the workers' day around here, back when people appreciated work and socialism. Not so much now. But we can still celebrate the flowers.
