Valentine's Necklace - free tutorial

 

 

 

 

 

Happy Monday and Welcome to the second project dedicated to Valentine's Day.

 

Today I'll show you how to make this cute necklace.

 

Gather your supplies:

 

 

 

* Decorative twisted cord

* Long strip of lace (with big holes on the upper edge)

* Crochet (or other) flower

* Beads (optional and maker's preference)

 

 

 

First insert the cord through the holes and gather the lace in the middle.

 

Use any crochet (cotton / other) flower you like.

 

The pattern for this flower goes like this:

 

Ch 5 and join to make a ring.

Rnd.1: In the ring, ch 6 (3 as the 1st dc + 3 for the chain), "dc1, ch3". Repeat "this" 4 times more. Sl st with beginning chain to end round.

Rnd.2: In the first chain space, make 1sc, 1hdc, 1 dc, 1hdc, 1sc. Repeat this pattern for all chain spaces.

Rnd.3: ch4, make a BCsc (between petals) all around.
Rnd.4: In the first chain space, make 1sc, 1hdc, 3 dc, 1hdc, 1sc. Repeat this pattern for all chain spaces. End with a sl st into the 1st petal of the round.

 

Cut pieces of lace and pick the edges to get a shabby look. Put them in the center and sew beads over them.

 

 

 

Sew flower on the side and your necklace is done!

 

 

 

The first project of the mini series was the Valentine lariat.

 

 

 

Valentine Lariat - free pattern

 

 

 

Valentine is very special for us because as some of you know, our daughter Eva was born on Valentine's. She'll turn 15 next week.  She still hasn't decided what she is going to wear on her birthday. It is not this outfit she is having on in the pictures. But she helped me shoot the lovely lariat.

I am having several Valentine posts ready as a mini series and while brainstorming ideas for the day, I always referred to it as "Dressing up for Valentine" and it stuck with me - although I don't plan on suggesting fashion choices and styles for Valentine. It would refer to those last finishing touches- in this case jewelry and accessories.

So let's move on to the instructions. For this lariat I used 2 colors in fingering and sport yarn. This pink I started the lariat with was fingering but I needed thicker yarn  (sport) so I doubled it. I used 1.9 mm hook.

Pattern
1. Chain 3o. In the 2nd ch from hook, hdc1, next dc across until you get to the last 2 stiches where you sc1 and sl st. You will get a slightly curled vine.
2. Roll it with your fingers.
3 - 4. Chain 3o and repeat the same pattern as in 1.

5 -7. Make 2 more curls by chaining 25 (and 1 last by chaining 20) and repeating  the pattern above. There are 5 curls.

8. Chain "the body". I chained 120. That is the length you have to decide on. When you get the desired length, ch 25 for the smallest curl and next make the other 4 (in reverse this time).

9. With another color, ch 30. Starting from the 2nd st from hook, hdc1 and next make 2 dcs in every stitch up to the end where you finish by making 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sl st all in the last st.
10 -11. Ch 40 (10 for the space and 30 for the curl). Repeat the pattern in 9 for the curl. There are 3 curls.
12 -13. When you are done with the last one, join it with the light pink lariat by a sc and continue sc across.
14. When you come to the other end start making the curls. Use pattern given in 10.

14 - 16. When you come to the other end start making the curls. Use pattern given in 10.

17. Insert 2nd yarn at the beginning of the body (end of curls) "ch 4 and make a picot, sc in next st, sl st in the next one" and repeat from "to ". 

18. Your curly lariat is done!

Scheherazade's rings - beaded ceramic rings

 

 

Hi lovelies!

I am happy to present my newest mini collection of crochet and beaded ceramic rings inspired by 1001 nights.

As a child I was mesmerized by Scheherazade's stories and the enchanting pictures accompanying them - images that I still vividly remember and that I used as inspiration for the design of the rings.

The design of all three rings is unique. The ceramic rings were also made by me on a recent workshop I participated and I am quite satisfied how the whole process went - from the creation of the "ceramic beads", their painting and finally giving them their present appearance.

I am also happy to announce that there are some other ceramic beads currently being in the process of beautifying and dressing up and they will soon turn into rings and brooches.

Joanna's Roses Necklace - a crochet pattern

 

 

 

 

It was my mother's name day recently and on this day the closest of the family gathers together to celebrate it. We usually bring wine and sweets and other small gifts but this year I wanted to mark the occasion with something else, so I made her this necklace. She had no idea what I was making. I just told her to choose the colors. 

 

Again I used crochet roses and taffeta rosettes and some glass beads for added charm.

Easy Cabochon and Pom-Pom Pendant Necklace DIY

Hello everyone!

Valentine is fast approaching and I thought it is the right time to whip up something beautiful and easy. And again. You know that I am deeply in love with projects that an be done in a jiffy, so this is such a project. An amazing last minute gift - if you ask me. I mean literally last minute....

So for this project I used (3) cabochon flowers - preferably in different sizes and colors for more effect, a filigree setting / tray, a strip of tulle for a pom-pom, jump rings  and a metal chain. A glue gun to make the magic happen.

Arrange the flowers in the most attractive way on the lower part of the tray, and add the pom-pom. To make the tulle pom-pom I used this technique here.

On the upper, center part add 2 jump rings and attach them with the chain and your pendant necklace is done.

Crochet Dream Dolls - kukukolki

 

 

It has always been my desire to crochet and sew and knit and generally make things for babies and children.Dolls have been on the top on my list - but not being a priority and certainly not the basis for my small business, I just satisfy that desire by drawings and sketches of crochet dolls. And by following people who make magical dolls.

 

One such extraordinary, masterful artist is Anastasia Goval. The first time I saw her dolls I couldn't believe one could make such stunning and mesmerizing dolls. What I like most is the clothes she crochets for the dolls. My Gosh! Those are tiny little masterpieces.

 

I mean, sweet heavens! I would die to have their clothes!! Look at the coat on this girl below. What amazing and impeccable work on all the details!

Today we have to show you our newest addition to the Mori collection. A faux fur collar. It comes in a seducing coral dust / pink and brings the air of a fairytale. Amazing Textile Art Jewelry - "To Tibet"

 

 

 

 

While searching for textile art jewelry - I came upon a fantastic artist whose creations have literally left me breathless. Her name is  Yanli Duan and the summary of her undergraduate studies is called "To Tibet". A series of amazing textile art jewelry.

According to her words, she boldly mixes textiles with leather and beads adding LED to show the impact of modernization and its integration with culture and tradition. Thus creating contemporary jewelry on the foundation of Tibetan traditional complex patterns and special, mystical designs.

Decorating with Doilies

Doilies always remind me of my paternal grandmother. She could masterfully whip up doilies as fragile and delicate as a spider web. She also loved showing and displaying them as much as making them. They were tastefully placed around the house to decorate certain corners and points.

That's where my love of doilies comes from. Being the oldest of her granddaughters, I had the honor of having many tablecloths and doilies made just for me, for my dowry - as she used to say. But the dear soul knew that out of us 5 girls, I was the one who appreciated, learnt and enjoyed crochet (and knitting) and that I would use and care about all my doilies passionately.
