A while ago, I bought myself a plain mustard dress, and that's plain in the literal sense of the word. There is nothing on it except for a belt. The design is such that it drapes when you tie the belt and looks quite lovely. But being rather simple, I knew I had to make something to enrich it in some way, and what better than one of my mixed media necklaces.
I immediately knew I am going to use "the kissing birds pendant" I've been saving for ages.
I added the metal flowers as well as some of my crochet flowers (Irish roses) and the vintage strip my hub's granny had made as a sampler. I've been saving that for a special project and now I am happy it's found its place.
And lo and behold, my new favorite necklace is born.

Oh my, your exquisite necklace is the perfect accessory for your dress, Maya. Isn't it wonderful that no matter how "plain" a dress is, it can always be transported to another realm with such lovelies that you imagine.
Once again you've made such a pretty necklace and will look perfect with your dress.
I agree Kim! I love when I can transform a piece of simple clothing by adding crochet elements, whether a necklace or a brooch that have an eye-catching effect :)
Thank you Julie! I've already worn it and felt fabulous!
It's a master-piece. You've outdone yourself once more!
I agree, it looks great with the dress (which is quite lovely as well).
Beautiful! Maya, you are so talented! Thanks for sharing with Creative Compulsions.
