Whether you have a party, a wedding or a celebration of any kind, having a backdrop, preferably an eye catching one gives the event a new dimension and effect. When it comes to photography - it is the focal point of the event.
Backdrops. They can be simple curtains or wallpaper hung down, or whole walls elaborately decorated in real or paper flowers, ribbons, garlands and buntings, balloons and lace and the list goes on and on.
What I love most about backdrops, is that you can make one from scratch. Armed with a wild imagination and lots of supplies and props, you can create one according to your personal design. I am going to try and make a backdrop for a photo shoot this weekend, so fishing for ideas I made a collection of backdrops I liked best. Take a peek into the ones I selected. Enjoy these beauties!

These are gorgeous. It's like there's a little bit of theatre in each one. Each backdrop creates an imaginary, theatrical "place". You could make up a story about the people who might be coming and going from such a place -- what fun! Thanks for sharing.
OMG , these are such gorgeous backdrops. Thanks for sharing them Maya. I absolutely love the second one and when I get married I want my reception backdrop to be like this
These are soooo lovely and inspiring. I'm still angry at my parents and my husband because they talked me out of taking the old worn down paravent of my granddad's house - that would have been perfect as a background. Too late now though, but plenty of new ideas from you post! Thank you, dear Maya!
So beautifully said Carol. So many amazing and different stories can be created with these. Thank you for stopping by!
The first four are something I would have myself! They are stunning!
So sad to hear that Marjan! I on the other hand had nothing spectacular as a backdrop on my wedding... Times have changed greatly, so even if I had it would have been grainy and outdated, not that it was so long ago, but yet. However, being in this creative business allows me to dream and even create backdrops (on a small scale though)so I am satisfied.
The first 4 photos will I have on my self, they are so romantic and beautiful,
Have a nice weekend

Maya these are so beautiful and super classy too. Almost makes me long for a wedding.
Haha.. you are right. I got so involved with these, Eva - my daughter promised she'd let me work on something similar for her wedding. I might wait for a decade for this, but hey..I am a patient person :)
Oooh.....now you are talking my language, Maya!!! I am drooling over this gorgeous post. So very luscious and inspirational.....thank you!!
Great post Maya. I love when a party or celebration has that 'little something extra'. Thank you for sharing at Create, Bake, Grow & Gather this week.
